Many people might be winning big bucks in Las Vegas, but the emo and pop punk community just hit the jackpot in the bonus round.
‘When We Were Young’ Fest Announcement
The biggest emo punk heavyweights of yesteryear are joining together in October in the “Entertainment Capital of the World,” to bring back and reunite the displaced 30-year-olds who’ve been mourning the loss of Vans Warped Tour since its last leg hit amphitheaters in 2018.
Aptly named, “When We Were Young” is a brand-new music festival where those who experienced the emo punk glory days of the early 2000s, can rise again and revel in their youth.
Especially nostalgic are headliner heavyweights, My Chemical Romance and Paramore. Other relished bands on the bill include Avril Lavigne, A Day To Remember, Bright Eyes, Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World.

This one-day, Live Nation-promoted music festival was just announced a few hours ago, and already has 151 thousand followers on the account, eager and ready for updates. The post also has nearly 261 thousand likes and over 17 thousand comments.
Many of the bands on the bill have expressed their admiration to be the original group to rejoin their fans’ lives on a mass scale.
Bands like Pierce The Veil, 3oh3 and Silverstein commented with their excitement.
Fans are equally excited. One fan wrote, “EMOS COMING OUT OF HIBERNATION,” and another follower commented, “I am going to have to wear all my vans at the same time for this one.”
As more details emerge, fans will be able to plan their experience and decide which bands and stages to hop to, much like the former Warped Tour.
Aside from this huge announcement, It’s been a busy week for a few of the bands in the lineup, as many have also announced full tours, aside from their stint at this jampacked festival.
Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World Announce Tour

It was only a matter of time before Dashboard Confessional and Jimmy Eat World announced a tour together. The rockers gave hope and more seminal anthems than people can count – and decades later, many can’t help but scream “Hands Down” and “The Middle” at any bars when they hear them. The 2004 ending rain scene between Chad Michael Murray and Hilary Duff from “A Cinderella Story” accompanied by Jimmy Eat World’s “Hear You Me” is still part of viewers’ hearts.
The bands will start their tour at the end of February in Albuquerque, NM and play throughout March, ending in Houston, TX.
For all the above music, it’s time to start dusting off those checkered Vans slip-ons that keep staring at you from the bottom of the closet, and start working your best emo music dance moves.
The festival will take place at the Las Vegas Festival Fairgrounds on Oct. 22. Registration for presale begins Tuesday, Jan. 18, with presale tickets going on sale Fri., Jan 21.
